We, at Maplewood Bible Chapel (MBC), follow the New Testament church pattern as given in the Scriptures - The Holy Bible.
Biblical Eldership is a responsibility delegated by the Lord Jesus Christ, the Head of the Church (local or universal), the Chief Shepherd, to men chosen by the Holy Spirit who demonstrate spiritual maturity and doctrinal integrity through years of study of God's Word - the Holy Bible - and embody it's truths in practical holy and godly living in all aspects of their life.
Key Scriptural passages that detail Biblical Eldership qualifications for local church shepherding are Acts 20:28, 1 Timothy 3:1-7, 1 Peter 5:1-4, Titus 1:5-10.
Biblical Eldership is about guarding, feeding, tending, serving the most prized possession of Lord Jesus Christ on earth - His flock - for whom He laid His own life down to save them from sin and coming judgment.
Biblical Eldership is a shared responsibility among the eldership team. Each elder is a pastor as per Scripture. In that sense, MBC has many pastors or under-shepherds as listed above ministering to and caring for His flock, reporting to our Great/Chief Shepherd - our Lord Jesus Christ.
